I am hooked on SOLO events now. Why? Because they are a blast, the people are really enjoyable, and the cars. People bring everything and anything out to SOLO events, and what I mean by anything is it is pretty much Miatas. Lol. After being to a couple events I see why. They are cheap, light, and for some reason, fast. Being a novice photographer, Solo events allow me to improve my skills, and get some awesome ride alongs. This event I rode in a early 60's Alfa, 500 Abarth, ND Miata, Supercharged 1LE, and a R32 GTR.
I also thought Id share some photos with you all.
BTW, you can check out all my photos on my Flickr.

Yep, Hans is the one who got me in to these events.
Great guy.

Nice! Yeah, he’s a really cool guy. You should come out to one of the Milwaukee Region events, there are some incredibly good drivers there.

So he tells me. He wants me to go north with him sometime, just got to have the money and time. Because of him I am looking for a cheap, I mean cheap Civic to get in to this. Cant get a Miata because I have kids, so I think a 96 Civic 5 speed would be fun to mod and get out there.

If I can find one that isn’t full of cancer.
How fast is Hans against your FRS? I would assume you are both in the same class.

I just recently (this season) got bumped into STX, but I’m definitely not at the same level of prep he is. My car is focused more on HPDE than autox (I don’t have the right size wheels or the right tires haha), and it’s been awhile since he and I have been at the same event. The last results I can find from an event we both participated in was a Milwaukee event from last year, he was 4 seconds faster than me and 33 places higher in PAX with a well-prepped STX car vs my very poorly prepped CS car. haha Although I expect he’d beat me, I’d really like to drive against him again though.

Hes a great driver.
There was a Abarth that was running 55secs this weekend, and he jumped in it and ran 53.
I cant wait to get out to bigger events, but I need a longer lens for my camera. Otherwise I am going to need my own spotter, and hang out on the track. Which I got to do on a few of my shots.

~89 Si’s are the car to beat in STC (I think that is the category).

Do you shoot Nikon or Canon? What’s your longest lens right now?

Nikon D3200
18-55
I want a 55-200
I bought just to shoot car shows, but now that I am shooting these events, I need something longer.

EFs are one of my favorites.
How would you feel about traveling to Arizona for a car? I grew up there, and the place is packed with Civic hatchbacks with no-rust; although they’re generally riced out with fading paint, nothing you can’t fix though. haha

Solo events are a blast. Been having a blast this year in E Street. Hoping to go to solo nationals and trophy. Going no matter what. Either way this shot was cool at an event earlier this year.
